Anybody who knows Melanie can see that she is one of the most kindhearted, giving, and selfless individuals. She truly has a heart of gold and has dedicated 20+ years as a registered nurse caring for patients in their homes. She has lovingly comforted those who need it most with her unwavering warmth and light. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for almost 27 years, and they have three wonderful sons who are just as tenderhearted and are gifted athletes. Outside of work, she cherishes her time with her family, enjoys long walks in nature, and loves to attend her sons’ sporting functions to cheer them on. Recently, Melanie received a devastating cancer diagnosis after finding lumps during a routine breast exam.
Why She Needs Our Help
Anyone facing a battle with cancer will have countless medical costs. With that being said, Melanie’s situation is unique. Her husband was recently laid off from the job that he has dedicated most of his life to, causing immense financial strain for the family. Being the resilient woman that she is, rather than sulking over their situation Melanie hopped back up and took on additional hours to make ends meet. Shortly after this staggering loss of income, her mother was hospitalized for high blood pressure. Melanie was there to console and comfort her mother after getting off from one of her 16-hour shifts. She is an absolute warrior and loves her family dearly. After all of these unfortunate barriers in her life, we want to set up a fundraiser on Melanie’s behalf to help her take some time off and focus on what matters most: her treatment and her health. Full commitment to the treatment and healing process, without the burden of worrying about finances, is essential.

Doctors who gave Melanie this diagnosis believe that a double mastectomy is the necessary step to prevent the cancer from metastasizing. It is an extreme step, but Melanie is ready for the fight!
