Sissy got a brain tumor

On Sunday, October 7th, Jessica was in Chicago, IL, competing in the Chicago Marathon.  This was her second marathon since turning 40.

Her morning started out as planned...up, ready and all set to run with her Sole Sisters Running Club members by her side.  Her mom was even there to watch her cross the start line.  Somewhere between mile 15-17, Jessica sat on the street curb to rest. The emergency tent personnel was close and took notice.  They transported her by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.  Luckily she was running with her phone; the EMT's got a hold of Cindy (Mom) and they met at the Hospital.  Thru testing, CAT scans, and an MRI they eventually discovered she had a brain tumor.

On Tuesday, Jessica endured 6 hours of surgery to remove a massive tumor on her right frontal lobe.  She was supported thru this with her mom, dad, sister, and boyfriend by her side (as well as brother, John, on the phone from AZ: Uber Eats Saves the Day!).

As we all know, Jess is quite the warrior and she persevered through it all and was released to a hospital hotel in Chicago where she is beginning her intensive recovery. Cindy (mom) is with Jess and Maggie (sister) is going back and forth from Nebraska.

At this time they plan to stay in Chicago for two weeks as traveling home is not an option.  Physical therapy is planned and results of the tumor will come within the next two weeks.  More than likely it will be several months before Jessica can even begin to think about full-time work again.
