Sisco & Others Need Your Help

Sisco came to us in 2013 just after a tumor (SCC) was removed from beside his tail. We followed up with Dr. Michael Porter, PHD Veterinary, and he determined the area needed to be injected with Cisplatin and Sisco did well - we monitor him daily. Sadly, we recently discovered that Sisco once again had an issue and Dr. Porter determined the area needed to be treated again. Yesterday, the tumor was removed, Cisplatin was injected, and the area stitched. Sisco is otherwise healthy and the vet feels confident that he has many good sunset years ahead.
Those who know me, realize that I don’t like to reach out for help but it’s the only way BHFER can survive. I haven’t been able to post the daily happenings like I used to only because I’m busy caring for the horses. We have many special needs equines at Beauty’s Haven and some take more time than others when it comes to daily care. And the reality is, if I don’t post updates, donations go down - and they have. It’s very frustrating.
We don't know the final cost of Sisco’s needs after his follow up treatments, but we know that we need help with yesterday’s expense of $905 (includes purchase of Ulcergard). We also need help with veterinary expenses incurred by other equines such as Betsy Rose and Sawyer. Our medical supply cabinet needs to be resupplied, the fly mister system at the barn needs to be refilled, and when we took the truck in for scheduled maintenance, we learned the tires need to be replaced - until the tires are replaced, we are unable to haul the horses anywhere which is quite worrisome should the need arise that one of our precious equines falls ill and must suddenly be transported to the hospital. Some fencing needs to be repaired and parts on various pieces of equipment need to be replaced. We work hard to properly maintain equipment - all of which are invaluable tools in the daily operation of the farm and the day to day care of the horses.
