SIRT Cancer Treatment Fund

Donation protected

My name is David Buckley. I am 62 years of age and been married to Petrina for 41 years. We have five children and four grandchildren. In Feb 2015, I was diagnosed with metestatic bowel cancer with liver secondaries. After three rounds of chemotherapy, my treatment options are limited due to a genetic mutation in the cancer. The main issue is the three or four growing liver tumours as the bowel tumour responds to radiotherapy. The Royal Marsden Hospital in London stated at diagnosis that I could be a candidate for Selective Intensive Radiotherapy Treatment (SIRT) in the liver. There have been numerous positive outcomes, particularly where patients have been carefully selected and the treatment can be repeated. The Nottingham team have said that although SIRT treatment would be appropriate, funding is not currently available due to a review.

Our overall target is £50k as this would support the initial treatment (£25k) but as it might need to be repeated , we have a higher funding target. Should this not be necessary, we would post our intention to donate any remaining funds to another cancer charity on the site and seek feedback. Please help as this treatment needs to commence within the next few months and could both prolong my life and, potentially, sit alongside other forms of treatment.
