Hello! My name is Elizabeth, I am 29 years old. 7 years ago I moved to Dallas, TX, 4 years ago I landed my dream job, 1 year ago I bought a house, 6-months ago I married my best friend and in June, I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. (::enter dramatic sound effects::)
I have had some on-going digestive issues that I went to visit a doctor for. After some trial and error, we opted to do a colonoscopy and found a large tumor in my rectum. We later learned it has metastisized to my liver & other nodules are present on organs. I have since temporarily relocated closer to family in New York to receive treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering while my husband commutes between the two cities as often as he can.
My goal is set to raise money that will financially help me to afford the expenses of a dog who will act as an emotional support animal & loyal companion during this journey...not to mention the sweet kisses, playtime and lifetime reward of giving the dog a great life. We will also use any money raised towards flights for Sergio as he travels to and from Dallas as well as Medical Expenses we take on during this time.
I believe that there is always a plan for us. While I agree that coming up with a reason why anyone is suffering from this terrible diesease is slim to none - I do feel that sharing my story, staying postivie, and living in the moment are just a few of the things I've learned on my journey so far.
