I'm doing another fund raiser for another incredible Ministry in Baja, Mexico. This one is for a water filtration system for a Free Medical Clinic in La Mision. This water filtration system will provide clean, potable water for the Medical Staff, Missionaries, Volunteers, Workers and thousands of the local inhabitants. Below, is a brief description of what Siloé Ministries is all about.
Siloé Ministries (pronounced SIL-oh-ay) is a 501c3 Christian organization serving in La Mision, Baja California and other poor communities in Mexico. We provide needy families with free health education, medical care and Christian counseling.
FREE COMMUNITY CLINIC
We run a free, full-service medical clinic on the grounds of our local church in the village of Santa Anita. Patients range from a few weeks old to the elderly with ailments that include diabetes, acute infections, hypertension, dermatological conditions, and everything in between! We also provide pre- and post-natal care to the women of La Mision and surrounding areas. Due to our rural location (roughly 40 minutes in either direction from a hospital), there is an acute need for basic medical care and health education. Most of our patients make less than $20 per day, and feeding their families takes precedence over medical needs. In 2015 we saw more than 1,800 patients out of our tiny clinic.
Our ministry provides dental care to the community thanks to Mexican dentists who volunteer their time with us several days per month, as well as visiting dentists and oral hygienists who desire to bless a needy community with much needed care.
WELLNESS CENTER
Siloe is partnering with Strong Tower Ministries to build a 6,000 sq. ft. Wellness Center in the heart of our village that will expand both the medical care and health education services we can offer the community and surrounding areas. Our goal is to continue providing free medical care to needy individuals, while also educating our community about making longterm, healthy choices that will positively impact their families’ futures.
The Wellness Center includes a well-equipped medical clinic and dental wing, multipurpose community space for classes and events, a “show” kitchen for healthy cooking instruction, a counseling and prayer room, onsite housing for visiting practitioners and volunteers, and ample outdoor space for a family play area, community garden, and future expansion.
