The Johnston-Taylor family will be donating over 1500 books to Sierra Leone’s schools including SAIO school affected by the mudslides, the University of Sierra Leone and foundations concerned with education. These books include children’s books for primary and secondary schools, University books on nursing, politics, business management, social work, geology, marketing, maths, social work, community development, economics etc. There are also many on professional development, leadership, self-management, financial management and setting up a business.
Dr. Johnston-Taylor also partnered with PAACET a non-profit organisation based in Sierra Leone and registered in Calgary, Canada. PAACET will also be donating books to Njala Teachers College and Saio school.
Funds (CA $2350) are being raised to pay for the shipping and clearing of the books, transportation and distribution of books in Sierra Leone, the compensation of volunteers, administration costs and other expenses. Please give as generously as you can, invest in the future of Sierra Leone’s young people. Meaningful investments in reading and learning is of utmost importance to the future of Sierra Leone’s young people and the country’s longer term development goals.
The shipments are expected to arrive in Sierra Leone in June and in August and will be distributed in time for the new academic year starting in September.
