Sienna's Mitzvah Project: Home For Good Dog Rescue

Tax deductible
Hi! I can’t wait for my Bat Mitzvah on June 8, 2019. As part of becoming a Bat Mitzvah, I will be doing a mitzvah project.

I decided to collect supplies to raise money for the Home for Good Dog Rescue (HFGDR). HFGDR rescues dogs from high kill shelters in the South and transports them to their rescue facility in Aiken, South Carolina where they receive medical care and training. Once the dog is well enough to travel, they arrive in New Jersey and are placed in a foster home until they are adopted. HFGDR is 100% foster based and since 2010, they have rescued over 7,100 dogs! There are so many homeless dogs who need help and my dog was one of them!

I want to help HFGDR because my dog Jimmy was rescued from Tennessee when he was only a few months old. He and his siblings got a deadly disease and if it wasn’t for the help of a local rescue organization down in the South, he would have died. I’m so thankful for rescue organizations like HFGDR because they give dogs like Jimmy a chance to not only survive but to also find a loving home.

I am hosting a table at Temple B’nai Jeshurun’s Mitzvah Day on Sunday, April 7th from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM in order to introduce HFGDR to our community. There will be adorable puppies that you can meet (and hopefully adopt)! I am also collecting the following supplies to support the foster homes in New Jersey and their facility in the South.

-       Slip leads and leashes
-       Puppy and adult martingale collars
-       Crates (medium and large)
-       Paper towels
-       Dog toys
-       KONGS and Nyla bones
-       Poop bags
-       Flea/tick preventative (ex. Frontline)
-       Heartworm preventative (ex. Heartgard)

Please feel free to bring these supplies to TBJ on April 7th.  However, if you can’t make it, I will leave a collection bin outside of my house: 36 Spenser Dr Short Hills, NJ

I have also set up this GoFundMe page to raise money that will go directly to HFGDR. I have set an initial goal of $2,000 which is enough to sponsor 4 dogs from rescue to adoption. I’m hoping we can raise a lot more money so we can rescue even more dogs. If you’re interested in learning more about HFGDR (both about what they are currently doing and what they plan to do in the future), please watch the short video below:

Lastly, while I plan to fundraise from now until my Bat Mitzvah, I am also volunteering at HFGDR and hope to do this for as long as I live in New Jersey! Please help me save all of the dogs who need our help! Dogs can’t always express how they are feeling but if you watched some of these videos, you would see how sad they look and how they need our help! Together, we can make a difference!

Thank you in advance for contributing towards a cause that means so much to me and my family!

Love,
Sienna
