Shoot for the Cure Fundraiser

Donation protected

Shoot for the Cure is an annual fundraiser put on across U Sports by it's 47 women's basketball teams. It is an initiative intended to raise awareness and money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in association with the Canadian Cancer Society. Initially launched in 2007, the fundraiser has now raised over $1.25 million dollars.

Whether directly or indirectly, everyone is affected by breast cancer at some point in their life time. Breast cancer is the leading cancer among Canadian women, affecting 1 in 8 women. Approximately 72 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every day, with 1 in 31 women dying from it. A diagnosis of breast cancer does not solely affect the patient either. These women living with breast cancer are mothers, they are sisters, daughters and friends, they have families, friendships, and loved ones that are also affected, therefore it is important that everyone plays a role in the fight against it.

Please join the Acadia Axewomen Basketball team as we fundraise for another year of Shoot for the Cure. This year, for our fundraiser, Coach Len Harvey has graciously volunteered to switch up his game day attire for something a little more shall we say... PINK!

If you would like to support in the fight against breast cancer and see Len in PINK, please feel free to donate!

Thank you,
Acadia Women's Basketball
