Inspire Tutors Zimbabwe Fundraising

Hello, my name is Shingai, I am 23 years old, and I've completed my studies at the University of Leeds.

I am heading to Harare, Zimbabwe this year in August to volunteer as a tutor with a Charitable Organisation called Inspire Tutors Zimbabwe. Inspire Tutors focus on providing individual academic tutoring for children based in children’s homes, orphanages and as well as those from deprived backgrounds in order to improve their academic performance. Their key aim with these children is to create an environment of sustainable development, by educating these children will place them in a position where they become empowered and do not have to be dependent on the system for the rest of their lives.

Why Zimbabwe? Why this field?

Harare, Zimbabwe is home for me, as this is where I grew up in a northern suburb of the city called Borrowdale.

Sustainable development is something I have always been keen on. I see myself as a future global leader and I want to create strong positive changes, which involves targeting the global 99%, this means that in the key decisions I make no one will be left behind. By being involved with Inspire Tutors I can achieve this vision and encourage the younger generations that I will be tutoring to achieve success despite any barriers they might be facing. This has become my key motivation, which gives me that personal drive to do my part to ensure that we create a strong and sustainable future, especially for the next generations to come. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”, now that I have just finished my degree, this is the perfect opportunity to begin to create change by focusing on the country where I grew up. This certainly is a dream come true.

What is the money for?

The money raised will ensure the continuation of Inspire Tutor’s vital work; not just by educating children from disadvantaged communities but also empowering them. Inspire Tutor’s also plan on gaining office space and expanding their work across the nation, so however small or large your contribution is, it will be greatly appreciated and go directly to them.

My personal deadline for this campaign is the 7th August, 10 days before I fly off to Zimbabwe.

I am extremely excited about this and will keep you updated on my journey.

God bless you, thank you for your support!
