Sherman Fought the Car and the Car Won!

Tax deductible
Sherman, who would like your vote as the sweetest dog in the world, ran into some bad luck! He was hit by a car and the car won! His sister Penny stood vigil and never left his side until a kind motorist picked them both up and brought them to the Blount County Animal Center.

Our shelter veterinarian, Dr Williams, immediately began treatment to reduce Sherman's pain and diagnose his injuries. In addition to superficial cuts, abrasions and road rash, he had what appeared to be a fracture of the left hind leg below the tarsus. Although he was whimpering in pain, he managed to give kisses to everyone trying to help him! What a great dog!

Due to his probable fracture, Sherman was taken to a local veterinary clinic for x-rays and treatment.  The good news: radiographs revealed the tarsal/metatarsal joint was dislocated but there were no fractures. It was re-aligned and splinted and he has a good prognosis.  The bad news: treatment required a 5 day vet stay including radiographs and frequent splint changes at a cost of $800!

The Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation (SMACF), a 501c3,  provides all funding  for spay/neuter and special medical treatment needed by animals at the Blount County Animal Center. Donations like yours are how medical care like Sherman's is funded.

Please  join me in helping fund Sherman's medical bills so we can help the next Sherman brought to us for care!

Sherman, Penny, the Blount County Animal Center, SMACF and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!  Or in Sherman's case his leg!
