Blessings for Sheri's Journey
Sheri has already conquered a surgery that has removed 95-99% of the tumor. She has had physical therapy, and now is home waiting to start chemotherapy and radiation. Then more treatments for quite some time.
Sheri has a husband and 3 children at home with her on this journey to fight a battle against cancer.
This fund raiser is to help the family along the way; from finding specialized care, setting up safe-guards at home, and to allowing her husband, Scott, flexibility in the time he may need to be away from work.
There have been many questions of how to help or be there for the Lagge family and we believe this is a way all of you can take part in the fight.
Thoughts and prayers are always welcome on Sheri's caringbridge site. We read these to her daily.
Sheri and her family will have a long road ahead of treatments, therapies and just the emotional struggles that go with a devastating diagnosis such as this.
If you find it in your heart to want to contribute to the family any amount is appreciated.
I cannot tell you how hard this is that the most compassionate and self-less person I know could be struck with something so evil. But along with all of that, Sheri is strong and resiliant and will fight this every step of the way.
Sheri and family appreciate your continued prayers and love.
Our last visit to Duke 3 weeks ago was a good one. It appears that there has been little or no regrowth of the tumor. Duke elected to wait with starting clinical trials and continue to with standard chemo. I should mention that Sheri completed the 6 weeks of chemo and radiation and is now on maintenance chemo 5 days a month.
We have MRI's every 2 months to monitor and if new growth is detected, Duke will start a phase 3 trial. There are a few options, hopefully, none are needed.
Sheri's attitude and strength have been amazing. She continues to remain strong and in good spirits. No doubt to me that attitude, prayer, and support from friends and family are key ingredients for her recovery.
It's with love, thankfulness, and appreciation I write to thank all of those who have supported us.
