Shelby's Medical Bills
Shelby suddenly started acting very lethargic today (Sunday 10/29) and stopped eating or drinking as much. After a significant difference in her demeanor was noticed, she was taken to a 24-hour clinic where it was discovered that her red blood-count was down to 13.5% when normalcy is between 30-40%. She will need a $2500 blood transfusion within the next 24 hours, and then multiple other tests that may run even as high as $4600 in the end if things continue to decline. The vet suspects that this is possibly a pancreas or liver-related issue. A pathologist will be there on Monday to give a more insightful review of the blood work that was taken tonight. Anything that could help would be greatly appreciated as this news is devastating and came very suddenly. Also, the vet clinic is Hillside Veterinary Clinic in Dallas Texas. Go Fund Me doesn't allow me to give out the phone number, but if anyone wants to donate straight to the clinic, you can google it for the phone number & it's the one located on 6150 E. Shelby is back home for the week until blood results are checked again. She’s being treated for an immune/anemia-related issue for now & will be on steroids for nearly 6 months! Realistically, this could cause pancreatitis or diabetes, but there isn’t an option to take her off of them so her body is reliant on her to respond well to them. She has to go back every 2 weeks for blood work & checkups for the 1st three months. After that, the steroid dosage will decrease very slowly until she’s weaned off of them. This is the best case-scenario. We are praying that no other underlying serious issues caused this & that we don’t discover any more as time goes on. And we also hope that she can eventually function without them. It looks like this is the beginning of a lengthy recovery, but as of now, she’s shown a great response to the transfusion, her appetite is back & larger than before, her coloring is back to normal, and she’s extremely alert! I’m not even close to thanking each one of you as much as you all deserve for everything that each one of you has contributed! Shelby would not have been able to undergo even a chance at any of this had it not been for everyone’s help! ❤️ Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your endless support & love for her!
