Shelby Needs A Pacemaker.
I adopted my best friend in September of 2007 when I was 7 years old. She has been there every step of the way with me and I can't lose her now.
January 28th, at Green Lakes State Park, Shelby sprinted and ran very fast - next thing I know, she collapsed on the floor and started shaking.
January 29th, I took her to Stack Vet in Syracuse NY for a wellness exam where I learned Shelby had unbelievably low heart rate (34 BPM) which indicated she needed further heart study at the Syracuse Vet Medical Center of CNY (Bridge St, Syracuse NY).
UPDATE: We took her to CNY Vet Medical where we met Dr. Eva Oxford, who was very nice. Shelby took an Electric Cardiogram where we learned her AV Node doesn't work and we are relying on just her Ventrical to keep the pace going (20-40BMP) - which can stop at any time. Blood isn't being supplied to her all body. If overexcersied, she can collapse and die. The Electric Cardiogram only cost us $198. Dr. Eva Oxford held off on the other tests because she said at Cornell they will include it in her pace maker package cost. She did say Shelby is a life or death patient and can be seen earlier at Cornell.
The doctor said she can regain enegry and she still has a lot of years left!
So, we have around $500 now to put towards the pace maker surgery. I am working on more funds and will keep everyone updated.
Thank you all so much for the kindness.
