When She #Fights... We ALL #Fight

It’s difficult to describe Anna.  Anna is my best friend, but she’s really more of a sister.  Anna is the person that I hope to be like one day. You know when you read a book, and there’s a character that’s amazing, so full of heart, compassion, and courage?  That’s her. She has your back 100%, no matter what. And even if she hadn't known you long, she still has faith in your ability to go far, and always gives everyone a second chance.  Even people, in my arrogance, I didn’t think deserved one. She still cheered for them to get back up and try again. She always has your best interest at heart.

Once, on his first day of work, a man didn’t have any money for lunch.  All she asked was, what type of sandwich he wanted. Another time, someone had woefully told her of their struggles, of having lost their apartment and didn’t have anywhere to stay.  Anna marched right over to the atm and pulled out cash for them to get a room for the night, asking for nothing in return. These are just two of the countless times Anna has helped those around her, never seeking any benefit from having done so.

Anna has always sought to lighten the burdens of those around her.  She sees the potential in every person, and encourages them to meet that potential, and lifting them up along the way.  Anna has never asked for anything, and has always given all of herself with no strings attached. She is loving and fiercely loyal; She has always fought for her friends and family, no questions asked.  But now, Anna is facing an entirely new kind of battle - Cancer - And it’s our turn to help her fight. When She #Fights.. We ALL #Fight.

In 2017, Anna had undergone surgery to remove her left ovary, after her doctor had discovered a benign mass, and recommended this course of action, believing that it would resolve the issues she was facing.  And, it seemed like it helped for a little while.. But the results did not last.

During the summer of 2018, Anna suffered from severe abdominal pain, yet her doctors could not determine the cause.  Various tests and scans were done, but they bore no insight to the underlying cause. It wasn’t until November, when her abdomen became hard and began to grow exponentially, that doctors were able to help her.

One night, Anna - who has always run hot, even in the winter - was found incoherent, in great pain, and shivering beneath several blankets by her husband, who rushed her to the Emergency Room.  While there, Doctors concluded that she had an enormous tumor, in addition to excessive fluid, in her uterus. Upon conducting additional tests, they advised her that she had major internal bleeding in her uterus, and that they could not save her remaining ovary.  An emergency hysterectomy had to be performed.

A few days after the surgery, while in recovery, doctors gathered around Anna’s bedside,  to break the terrible news to her: They had discovered 2 forms of cancer in the uterus and mass that they had removed, but they would not know how far it had progressed, or exactly what it was, until the pathology report was completed.

Just days before Christmas, the report returned and the devastating diagnosis was made: Stage 3 Uterine Cancer.

At a follow-up appointment with her Oncologist, he recommended Anna undergo Chemotherapy and Radiation, which he said were the best options.  Anna began to research and determined that this form of treatment was not going to be her first choice. She educated herself on the different treatment options that were available to her, and settled on a more natural and holistic approach.  Anna changed the way she ate, tried various teas that were known for helping with her cancer cells, and even sought out CBD oils as an additional option.

Several months later, at the end of June 2019, Anna wound up in the ER again due to severe rectal bleeding and pain.  A scope was run down her throat and a colonoscopy performed, in addition to other tests being run, to figure out what was ailing her.

The results came back, and a grim doctor returned with the seemingly never-ending bad news - her health was continuing to decline.  The cancer, they had discovered, had not only returned.. It had spread through her uterine walls. It was believed that the rectal bleeding was caused by its return, as one mass had grown in her colon, and another was growing beside her kidney, blocking it.  The doctors treating her informed her that she would need to have additional surgical work performed, or be at risk of kidney failure, and that she needed to seriously consider chemo and radiation. But, Anna was just as determined as she had been the first time she heard about that treatment option, not to have that as her first solution.

A few days after the hospital discharged Anna, her brother brought her a ray of hope: he had researched and looked into an Oncology doctor in Reno, Nevada (Dr. James W. Forsythe) who he thought she should go see, due to the level of care he provides his patients.  She was amazed, upon her own research, to learn of the form of chemo he provided.. It was exactly what she had been looking for! Anna packed her bags and set out with her brother on his way to Redding, California for a Christian Conference. Reno was on the way there, and at the very least she would be able to get some more information, with the worst case scenario of needing to wait for an opening to get a consultation.  Luck was in her favor, and Dr. Forsythe took the time to see her and determined she was a candidate for the treatment. That was amazing news and she is eager to begin her treatment as soon as possible, which will begin in a few weeks.

Unfortunately. Anna was not insured when she was diagnosed last year.  Although she now has insurance, she has been informed by the provider that they are unable to cover any of the costs related to her cancer.  That includes all medication and treatment.  The cost of this treatment is necessary, not only to ensure that her kidney does not fail, but also to fight against this horrible disease that threatens every aspect of her life and causes her daily pain.  It is vital that she receive treatment, even though it will be a substantial burden to do so.

We implore you to help her if at all possible.  Every donation, no matter how small, makes such a big difference in helping her while she undergoes 3 intense weeks of treatment as well as her recovery.  All proceeds are solely directed to her medical bills, as they have already piled high and threaten to overwhelm her with the upcoming treatment, which is anticipated to be $60,000.

Thank you so much for fighting alongside Anna against her Uterine Cancer.  When she #Fights... We ALL #Fight… #TeamAnna
