Shasta's Fight Against Pulmonary Fibrosis

Donation protected
My daughter Shasta Strawser has been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis at just 36 years of age. She was diagnosed on May 4, 2019. She spent 8 days in the hospital on oxygen and super strong medicine for pneumonia and an infection in her lungs that led them to find the PF (Pulmonary Fibrosis). She lost her employment and can no longer work. She's on bed-rest indefinitely for now. She applied for disability but doesn't have enough work credits to qualify, not even with an attorney. She's seeing a the best pulmonologist regularly as well as her other doctors and is needing help paying the bills. The medicines are expensive but not as much as the care. The medical upkeep has been ridiculously high. She has a procedure coming up in just a few short months where they will take part of her lung and some of her fibroids for biopsy. And then they will wash her lungs. In medical terms they will do a bronchoscopy and a bronchoalveleolar lavage. She'll need to stay in the hospital for a week, at least, to be monitored on heavy oxygen. This gets pretty expensive. I know we are asking for a lot but if you could find it in your heart to give, we'd truly appreciate it. We don't know how much time Shasta has left but we have faith in the Lord that he will see us through this trying time. This disease affects people in their 70's and 80's. It is rare to have it at age 50 and again Shasta is just 36 years old. It is a terminal death sentence where most people only live 3-5 years after diagnosis. Respiratory failure is the final stage, which is also death. PF is a condition in which the lungs and areas around the lungs become scarred with built up scar tissue making it nearly impossible to breathe. With progression it makes it literally impossible to breathe at all. There is no cure. It kills as many people as breast cancer each year. Yet PF is a rare disease. The main goal of treatment is to slow the progression of the disease. Please help Shasta get the care she needs to slow down the progression so we have a little more time with her. She's a single mother and wants as much time with her son as possible. Please give what you can. Every little bit helps. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and donate. You are truly a blessing.
