Sharree Rose Walls Memorial

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Sharree Rose Walls was tragically killed in a car accident on March 2, 2019. Sharree was known by her warm, bright smile, her infectious laugh, and her incredible intellect and passion. All of these characteristics were apparent through Sharree’s leadership in the New Orleans’ community, her compassion as a friend and confidante, and her unbelievable love for her family.

In an interview, Sharree described herself in this way:

“Every day I get a little closer to discovering who I am, finding my desires that must be filled. So far, I know that I love thinking, engaging in imagining and creating plans for a better global society. I love running through parks but also feeling myself push past physical limits. I like to dance because I love listening to music. And most confusingly, I’m an extroverted introvert.”

Sharree was actively engaged in her community and dedicated to making the world a better place through her work with various groups including: University of Pennsylvania, Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans,  Global Shapers, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Starting Bloc, Red Beans Krewe, Business Council of New Orleans as well as volunteering with various groups.

We ask those of you that knew Sharree, loved Sharree, and shared this life with her to come together now as a community; just in the way she brought all of us together. Please join us in supporting Sharree's family in this difficult time. Sharree was an incredible aunt and a pillar of her family. We are raising funds to lighten the burden on her family who love her more than words could ever express.

We’re closing this message by sharing the words from one of Sharree's favorite poems:

“What made the beauty of the moon, the beauty of the sea, did that beauty make you, did that beauty make me? Did it make me something? Am I something? Will I be something? And the answer comes, already am, always was, and still have time to be.”

Sharree chose a tattoo that said “already am.”

We couldn't agree more.
