Shane's Gift

Shane's Gift is a testimony to the man we all knew. An amazing person with a contagious smile and most importantly, an amazing father to a young boy. Lukas will grow to know his father through the stories we tell. He will remember his father as a kind, loving man who would do anything for his son. 

On January 22, 2018, Shane Wetherby lost his battle with addiction. Though his death was accidental, it was also preventable. Shane would not want his death to be in vain. 

When Shane lost his mother in November 2017 to cancer, he realized firsthand how expensive and stressful planning a funeral could be. It was then that he started developing an idea for a charity. Shane's dream was to raise money for families who lost loved ones to addiction. He wanted to help them pay for unexpected costs and also help the victim's children have a good start to their adult life.

When Shane first told me about his idea, he didn't know where to start. After some research, we had developed a good idea on how to get his plan started...but, circumstances unknown to us at the time, would take his life before his dream became a reality. 

In honor of an amazing friend, I'd like to see Lukas cared for by those who knew and loved his father. In essence, its exactly what Shane would have wanted for those he planned on helping through his cause. 

As we slowly heal from the loss we have felt, I know we can work together to show Lukas how much his father meant to us.
