Hello! It's finally time to confirm the rumors... Shana's Place has plans to take another Leap of Faith! Our new facility is more than just a twinkle in Momma's eyes now! By fall of 2019 we would like to have everyone, employees and customers alike, enjoying the luxuries of a beautifully designed meat market, deli and local mercantile, always chock full of surprises. This new "meat mall" will also include a fun and comfortable area for our custom meat processing clients to tell some tales while checking out the samples, dropping off their harvest, placing orders, and picking up their products.

    With DNA that wouldn't allow her to be a slave to the conventional system, one day God shared a vision, He planted a seed. Fifteen years ago, at the age of 24,  Shana went out on her own little crooked limb and opened a deer processing business in a little rural town in central Alabama. By reinvesting the profits every year, this thriving little shop has slowly gone from, basically a 3 room shack, to now over 6,000 square feet of working rooms! People drive from hours away to have their deer processed at this legendary place, with its' phenomenally expansive menu. Anything from stuffed or pinwheeled backstraps to burritos and tamales, from over 15 flavors of jerky to a full line of smokehouse goodies and brats, then there's the famous boudin and bologna... the selection, quality and reputation has set the bar for all in the field!

    Piecing together part time, seasonal employees got old, a page had to turn. In March of 2017 the decision was made to create a year round business to support full time staff to lend well trained management for the brutality of hunting season load. Classes were taken, facility
improvements installed, protocols implemented, certifications, licenses, permits, inspectors, great friends, supportive family, lots of prayers and good whiskey all made it possible that in March of 2018 the retail side opened up. The skinning shed was temporarily transformed into an open air market room and the gut wagon truck turned into the tent, table and cooler hauling star of local farmers markets! The craze was on!

   The current facility is a "compound of outbuildings", all repurposed with love, sitting in her childhood horse pasture. Employees are working elbow to elbow, no advertising or passing out samples and business cards for now, a school bus stands in as the temporary retail market...This little place has busted out of its' seams!! A new building is inevitable, folks are begging for catering, dine-in, delivery, shipping, an Amazon store, and much more! The possibilities of charity events and fundraisers are so exciting! They just don't know the level of MORE that Shana has up her sleeve!

   Once again, not wanting to be a slave to "the system", the thought of such extreme debt for a new facility is terrifying, if it's even possible, in this current economy! Small town, self-employed folks don't have much credit history.  Her faith in God is bigger than any other part of life, though, and He woke her up at 2 am one night saying "Go Fund Me"; first time it's ever crossed her mind.

   So here we are...asking for help, for a chunk of cash to put down on a real building! We will update frequently with progress!  We want to show our appreciation to all who help make this fabled dream a reality!
