Sgt. Sauerkraut's Polka Band Movie

Donazione protetta

In 2001 I wrote a parody to the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". I assembled a rockin' polka band for Battle of The Beatles Bands at Beatlefest and we almost snuck into the finals. That was it. We had COME TOGETHER for one song, one performance. Several years later, a rock mockumentary idea was kicking around in my head which would feature a band who played unique instruments: a tamboranjo, a washbitar, a pogo cello and an electric washtub bass. I was stuck moving the story along until I realized I had the perfect band for the story all along. Sgt. Sauerkraut's Polka Band- a band from Whiting, Indiana who was popular in the late 1950's and early 1960's. A band who unknowingly influenced the Beatles until that one fateful night in 1964. The Beatles went on The Ed Sullivan Show and the band realized two things: they were somehow ripped off by The Beatles and polka was dead. The band quickly deteriorated and broke up. The four friends left town and went in four different directions, never to see or to talk to eachother again... until now.  We started filming this musical comedy mockumentary in 2015 and I need your financial support to help finish it.  I've created TV shows, recorded music CDs, filmed video DVDs, published books and produced live shows, and compared to those projects, I discovered that making movies is insanely expensive! If you are able, please consider supporting this artistic project. My creative self-expression is wanting to bring this movie into existence. It's a film that will make a difference. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll boo, you'll cheer, and in the end you'll all feel a little better about this world we live in!

A live version of Sgt. Sauerkraut's Polka Band was also assembled in 2015 to play Beatle Polka Songs. Check out our website at http://sgtsauerkraut.com and our Facebook page:  http://facebook.com/sgtsauerkraut

2017 Update: In June of 2017 the film was finished and played to a standing room only crowd at The Karolinka Club for it's Chicago Premiere. We are now in the process of raising funds for entry fees into film festivals.
