Zoe's service trip to Kenya 2019

Donation protected
For me helping people has always been prominent in my life. Growing up on a farm I was always expected to help with everything from a very young age. Then as I entered senior high I started becoming involved in school and helping out in anyway I could including in my Me to We group, Student Council and in the Sou’West NSSSA where I sit on cabinet as a Welcoming Co-Chair.
So now I would like to help out on a bigger scale, in Kenya. I would like to help build opportunities for people who wouldn’t get them without a little help from organizations such as Me to We.

For me something I never really knew was what my “calling” was or what I wanted to do with my life. But recently I have found it.
It came time for service trip applications for 2019. Last year I had finished my application for the Tanzania trip when I was held back. My family didn't support my will to help in a country so far away.
I have spent the last year regretting my choice to let people hold me back from what was going to open my eyes to new things. Thinking about these regrets has made me want to give so much more. While I'm in the Dominican this spring I have plans to go to a school and give supplies to kids. I have realized one day I will be a teacher, because helping kids is my “calling”, and I would love to teach abroad.

How will I plant the seed so I can help make the change in Kenya?

“When you know your WHY, your HOW will follow.”

Some examples are...
Sell homemade pies and jam
Host a Tea party with homemade goods and a silent auction
Host a yard sale
Sell transplants (tomatoes, various flowers etc.)
Host a paint night (I instruct a group of people how to paint a watercolour picture)

This experience is something I will work hard to make happen. Not for myself but for the people I will leave an impact on. I will strive to raise the funds needed, I will strive to work hard rain or shine while in Kenya as well as strive to make connections. Connections with those who I will meet, not just the people and children of Kenya but the ones from here who also have the opportunity to help make a change.

Your donations will help make a change in the world. Every penny is appreciated!
