A Service Pup for Stella and Heather

Donation protected
Heather Edwards is the most selfless person you will meet. For better or worse, Heather could be drowning and she would stop and make someone dinner if she found out they were in need. Heather doesn’t call and ask what she can do to help. She shows up, rolls up her sleeves, and gets to work. In short, Heather is the friend none of us deserve, but we all need.

Heather is the mother of four children, but she has given birth to six. About four years ago, Heather was at a bridal shower for a high school friend. She started making small talk with another woman who she knew from high school but who she didn’t know well. This friend, Lindsey, shared that she and her husband wanted to grow their family but weren’t sure how. Lindsey died giving birth to her first child and was miraculously brought back to life. Unable to safely give birth to more children, Lindsey and her husband adopted a second child. She told Heather that they wanted more children, but they  weren’t sure the right path to take again. Heather instinctively said, “I’ll carry your babies for you.” And she did. Heather carried twins for Lindsey and her husband. The labor was very difficult and fraught with extreme enough complications that she likely won’t be able to give birth to any more children. She literally gave up her opportunity to grow her family so someone else could grow their own. On top of raising her own children, recovering from a scary labor, and working Heather pumped breast milk for the twins for four months to help them get everything they need.

For work, Heather runs a preschool in their home to help support her family. She goes above and beyond to provide her students with the most magical and enriching experience possible.

Heather’s second child, Stella is 8 years old. Stella has autism and has sensory processing disorder. To put it lightly, she is very very high needs. Stella’s anxiety regularly leaves her crying for hours before falling asleep and causes her to end up in her parents' bed every night. Heather, a mama bear to the core, is committed to getting Stella the very best care because she truly sees Stella's unique potential. She knows that Stella can reach a beautiful adulthood, but she needs help getting there. Heather has spent hundreds of hours on the phone with insurance companies and thousands of dollars trying to get the right support for Stella.

Stella loves dogs and she and her family feel a service dog could be a wonderful support to her. Due to the extremely high costs of service dogs, they haven't really let themselves think too much about this option.

This is where we come in! We (you and a handful of Heather's friends) are first teaming up with 4E Kennels to get Stella the very best puppy possible. 4E Kennels specializes in breeding Goldendoodles that are the first pick of service dog training programs around the nation. The puppy will be trained with one of the best teams available with 4E Kennel's guidance to ensure he/she is able to love and support Stella in the ways she needs.

We are going to work a miracle. We are going to raise the necessary funds to get Stella a service dog who can help her live a happier life.  However, ultimately, this is a gift for Heather. Our hope is that this gift to Stella will give a bit of life back to Heather. This is our way of helping the universe return a chunk of the endless goodness that Heather has freely given.

Please help us work this miracle for Stella and Heather.

Many hands makes light work.
