Service Dog for Merry

Donation protected
My mother, Merry Hinkson, depends on a service dog to provide her with mobility assistance and to help alleviate anxiety related to agoraphobia. She has suffered from agoraphobia her entire life, but during the last several years, the anxiety attacks increased to the point that she was barely able to leave home. We were blessed to have Harley, a dog that we had adopted a few years earlier. My mother was able to train Harley to perform tasks that helped reduce her anxiety when away from home, prevented panic attacks, and helped ease panic attacks when they did happen. As my mom’s physical health declined, Harley was trained as a mobility assistance dog, as well. Harley helps steady her when she walks and has difficulty maintaining her balance, helps her up when she cannot get up from a sitting position or when she falls, helps her climb stairs, and retrieves items that she drops. Harley is her best friend, her sense of safety and security, and her independence. Sadly, Harley recently fell ill and it was discovered that he had an extremely large tumor in his abdomen. He is being kept comfortable at home for whatever time he has left, and while my mom is comforted by his presence, Harley is no longer able to perform as a service dog. In addition to losing her best friend and constant companion, my mother is also losing her independence. She cannot bear to go to the store, or the doctor, or ANYWHERE alone, because Harley cannot go with her. She is also too afraid to go outside if no one is home, because if she falls, Harley will not be there to help her get up. My brother and I both have full time jobs, so she spends most of her time at home alone, and without the aid of a service dog, she cannot even begin to lead anything close to a normal life. No dog will ever replace Harley in our hearts, but my mother NEEDS another service dog. Unfortunately, her health has declined to the point that she is no longer able to walk more than a few feet at a time and spends most of her days confined to a wheel chair. As such, she is no longer physically able to train a service dog herself, and the cost of a professionally trained service dog STARTS at $10,000. This cost is far too great for someone living on disability, and I am praying for any help that I can get to raise the money for her. Even if you can only spare $5 dollars, every little bit helps. Please help me get Merry the funds she needs by donating and sharing this link. Thank you!
