Service Animal for Sean

Seans Quest for a Service Animal to maintain his independence!
Hey Everyone,
Thank you so much for following the link and taking the time to read my request.

Some of you know this but many of you don’t, since leaving the hospital in September of 2016 I’ve managed to live on my own and maintain my independence through all my surgeries and treatments. My family has been amazing, they have done so much for me, but the reality is they are busy and have their own lives.
As a result of a few unfortunate situations due to my treatment there is now a great concern for my safety and my living alone.
There was the suggestion of cameras, possibly one of those alert buttons or that I go live with someone. I’m not comfortable with any of those ideas.
I accept that I have an aggressive and terminal form of cancer but I will not accept that I’m ready to be put somewhere waiting to die!
Then it was suggested that I get a service animal and once trained the dog could stabilize me so I don’t fall, retrieve things I can’t pick up and alert should I be rendered unconscious.
I thought it a fantastic idea and I began reaching out to every service dog organization and dog trainer I could find. What I discovered is it’s incredibly hard to communicate with these organizations because they are so busy, the demand for service animals is massive. I also found out the trainers are also very busy and hard to come by. The biggest challenge is that a fully trained service dog is between $25,000 to $35,000.
After a year and a half of trying to get a dog I decided that I would get a puppy and work with trainers, they are the trainers and I’d be a handler. I could help take care of the basics but the specialized training would be handled by the professionals over 18-24 months.
My prayers were answered 3 weeks ago when, through a friend, I was put in touch with a man with a litter of exceptional Labrador pups and as a result, Sunday January 6, I will be bringing home my future Service Dog and new best buddy, Cash, a 6 week old yellow lab!
I think it’s going to be a lot of work but incredibly rewarding. I also have a ton of support and offers to assist locally, thank you!
The money raised will go towards the purchase, training, medical/ veterinarians bills, and all expenses related to the training and care of a qualified service animal!
I can’t thank you all for reading this and if you can’t contribute then I’ll gladly accept prayers.

Sean’s Story:
"Team Sean" was created in September of 2016 to support fellow athlete and Race Announcer Sean English after Sean was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer that had metastasized in his spine and since spread to his ribs, jaw, liver, lungs, and lymph.
Sean spent 33 days in the hospital, had his spine reconstructed and right kidney removed. He's now endured several rounds of radiation, immunotherapy, and is currently undergoing more Chemo Therapy.
Some of you knew Sean as an Endurance Coach but most knew him as a Race Announcer for several of the nations premier events like the NIKE Women's Marathon and the Rock'n'Roll Marathon Series, Rev 3, Alcatraz, Wildflower and other Triathlons.
Sean has also worked with several National Nonprofits like The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, American Heart Association and The MS Society.
Sean has helped raise thousands of dollars for charitable organizations and now Sean needs your help.
Please make whatever donation you can big or small. Every bit counts.
