A Cappella Academy 2017
Thalles Nunes PLYMOUTH, MA
Hey everyone, I’m Thalles Nunes and I'm a senior at Plymouth North High School in Plymouth Massachusetts. I'm a bass, and I am a member of our auditioned a cappella group, Northern Lights.
This December, I auditioned for A Cappella Academy, a two week long program in California, where high school students from around the world come together to connect, learn, and make vocal music together. I'm beyond excited to be one of 78 students to be accepted into this year's Academy, out of 588 auditioners.
Twelve years ago, when I was six years old, my family and I immigrated to the United States from Brazil in search of a better economic situation and an education that I couldn’t find back home. Music has been embedded in my culture and religion, and singing in church has been a launching pad for this musical journey. Over the past three years at Plymouth North, I've developed a passion for vocal music, through singing in my school's chorus and choir, and the many experiences I've been able to have with contemporary a cappella.
A Cappella Academy is a great opportunity for me to learn from others and share what I've learned, and to further my skills in vocal music, with the hopes of bringing what I learn to others in the future. Naturally, with this awesome this opportunity comes expenses. Tuition for the camp is $2,000, not including airfare to and from Los Angeles. This year, with all the expenses for college and end of the year school activities, money has become harder to hold in, and this will be a obstacle towards being a part of this experience.
So that's where you can play a part! Please help send me to A Cappella Academy this summer by donating to this Gofundme!
Thank you very much,
