Please Help  Only  Child of  Single  Disabled Mom Go To Summer Camp

I'm a disabled single mom to a delicious 12-year-old son who is known to friends and family as Pump. On top of my disability I have been quite sick this year too - completely shut in since September 2015 except when an ambulance takes me to the hospital. Pump isn't even a teen yet, but it falls to him to do almost all the shopping, banking, and errands even in the dead of winter. He also has to prepare all his own meals and mine and even has do to some light housework on top of school and after school obligations. It's just way too much for a kid, but he does it all while getting good grades and moreover he does it with a smile. This child has so much on his plate yet wearing his contagious grin, he brings joy to everyone he meets.

For several years a charitable agency here in Montreal has been paying a subsidy to send him to the Y Country Camp  (part of the cost  - the camp donates the rest) located about an hour's drive north  of Montreal in the idyllic Laurentian Mountains . They do this because everyone from psychologists to family to teachers agree that the time he spends at camp is essential to his social and emotional development and of course gives him a much-needed break from responisbilities way beyond his years.

Usually the scholarship is for one 3.5 week session only  but because he has had so much more stress than usual this year everyone ageed to let him go for both sessions this summer.  A local public agency  is even picking up part of the parental fee but not all.

We also need money for things like toiletries and sunscreen, clothing labels, bug spray, duffle, laundry, and sleeping bags, water bottles, sandals, rain boots etc.  And because I can't get to a mailbox I would like to get some Bunk 1  credits so I can send him email. [Bunk 1 kindly donated a summer's worth of credits!!}

Normally these extras are not difficult for me to cover because I am a freelance journalist  who has had a fair amount of success writing about children's and educational technology. Regrettably, however, this year I haven't been well enough to work so we are living soley on a small disability pension. I find ways to make it last to month's end covering bills, food, and basic necessities but there isn't any spare change. We live check-to-check and my family already helps so much it's unfair to ask for more.

As much as I hate asking for money from individuals, I have exhausted the resources of the various generous public and secular social-service agencies and I still have  camp fees and sundries to cover.  I would also like to get him a camp sweatshirt since he outgrew the one he had last year.

If you can help in any way to make it possible for to get this amazing joy-inspiring child to camp with everything he needs I'd be very grateful. He is a special young man who only gets these 7.5 weeks to be real child free from adult stress and responsibility all year.

Thank you!!
