Michelle's Medical Trip To Uganda

Hello Friends!
My name is Michelle Pettet, and I am currently a Junior at Concordia University of Irvine. I am majoring in biology, pursing nursing. I am so excited to announce that I am partnering with Hopeland Volunteers and going to Uganda this May to work in one of the health clinics and other health initiatives in the area that need volunteer assistance. Every since I was a little girl, I always felt that something was calling me to Africa and start working with nonprofits in health clinics. I am just so overjoyed that this is becoming a reality. I am very nervous and scared, but I am ready to just say Yes, “to the ends of the Earth” I will go!
The trip will be a week long during May 7-14th, and I will be staying at the volunteer headquarter in the heart of Lugazi, Uganda. Each day I will travel to my project, and start working in the local hospitals with the medical staff. They will assign me to a variety health projects, shadowing procedures, and interact with patients. Uganda has one of the worst healthcare records in the world, and I am just lucky enough to be able to gain experience working with staff, and eventually make an impact to thousands of people in Uganda.
While God has opened up a fort for me to develop a greater heart of compassion for his people around the world, the exciting part is that you get to be able to share in several ways. First, you can pray for me especially since I am going alone and I have never experienced doing like this before. I will need prayers for safety and allow God to prepare me and just be able to use me to the people of Uganda. I will need prayers that my financial needs will be met. At this time, I will need to fundraise 1,500 for the entire trip. I will need to pay $900 to cover for the airfar by March 15th, then I will have to pay $600 by April 22nd. I know it is a lot, but God does provide and he always will.
