The TL/RC Gorillabots are a team of 7 hardworking kids from Tallahassee, FL who have received the honor of competing at the 2019 FIRST Lego League World Championship in Houston, TX April 17-20.
FIRST Lego League World Championships is an international competition organized by FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology for elementary and middle school students. FLL challenges teams each year to work collaboratively and innovatively to solve a real-world problem, build and program a Lego Mindstorms Robot, and share and learn the FLL Core Values.
The TL/RC Gorillabots are a local FLL team comprised of 5 Classical Conversations homeschool students, one private school and one public school student. We are part of the non-profit Tallahassee Lego/Robotics Club. TL/RC provides and promotes educational and competitive opportunities for children and teens in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math
This season has been the most exciting one yet - the team has captured the Tournament Championship Trophy and Robot Performance Award at the TL/RC Prequalifier Tournament in October, the Tournament Championship Trophy and Robot Performance Award at the DMS Qualifier Tournament in January, and last but certainly not least the Tournament Championship for the Northwest Florida Region.
This earned the team a bid to the World Festival Championship next month in Houston, TX.
As you can imagine, we are all crazy excited and (the parents) are wondering how on earth we're going to afford to get 7 kids and families to Houston in such a short amount of time!
That's where you come in. Please give as generously as you can to help defray the costs associated with traveling to Worlds, staying in hotels for 4-5 nights, food, and all the other incidental costs associated with a trip of this magnitude.
On behalf of Fox, Clark, Slava, Ethan, Katie, Beau, and Zoey, we all thank you for supporting our kids on this amazing opportunity!
