Meet Marissa Graczyk. Marissa has a smile that can light up a room, and a vibrant heart that can move mountains. And like any child, she has always dreamed of visiting Disney World.
At 12-years old, Marissa was recently diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia, a debilitating, life-shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder. This disorder has already taken so much from her, including her ability to hold a pencil and walk freely. Currently, she alternates between a walker and a wheelchair and often requires a two-hour nap after physical therapy appointments.
Doctors expect Marissa to decline quickly. In as few as five years, she may be unable to walk again. Her life expectancy is 30 - 40 years.
Marissa and her family have been devasted by this diagnosis. Treatment for her condition requires constant medical appointments at facilities several miles from their home. Marissa has five brothers and sisters (newborn to age 7), all of whom could inherit this genetic condition.
Please consider donating any amount to help send Marissa and her family to Florida to see Cinderella's Castle and meet Mickey Mouse! It may not be long before it becomes difficult for Marissa to travel and she is unable to transfer to and from rides. This vacation would bring this family so much joy!
