The Scrutopia Summer School is an intensive study experience under the guidance of famed philosopher Sir Roger Scruton. This year, Sir Roger has invited 20 scholars and thinkers from around the world to meet with him at his home to ponder traditionalist conservatism and the future of Western Civilization. Scruton is the author of more than forty books and was recently knighted by HRH the Prince of Wales. He currently teaches for the University of Buckingham and regularly appears as a commentator on the BBC.
Days at the summer school will include lectures by Scruton, readings, and discussions with other participants. Activities will also include side trips to relevant historic locations in England.
Attending the Scrutopia Summer School will no doubt be both invaluable and expensive. Tuition, room, and board alone are $3000, quite a burden for my family to bear alone. To help defray the costs of tuition, travel, and incidentals, I am inviting you to help by making a donation.
Investing in this opportunity means more than just paying my travel bills. My hope is that through attending this event, I will deepen my understanding of topics critical to our culture and then be able to think, write, and speak about these issues even more effectively. Because I am a person who writes regularly online, the ideas sparked at Scrutopia have the chance of spreading far beyond the small circle of attendees.
