Seekersinternatonal travel expenses

Umuawuchi, a region of 100,000 inhabitants in southeastern Nigeria, is 100 miles from the nearest hospital.  In this distressed Nigerian economy, few vehicles are available and gravely ill or injured people have been known to travel to the hospital (over mostly bad roads) as motorcycle passengers.  Maternal and infant deaths are shockingly high, usually from preventable causes, because of the lack of access to even the most basic medical care.

 

Seekers International Ministries, a U.S.-based 501(c)3 human service organization, was founded to establish and maintain a self-sustaining, full-service maternity hospital and health clinic in Umuawuchi. 

 

We will be conducting a fact-finding and relationship-building trip to the region May 12 through 20, 2018.  Besides meeting with our Nigerian members, community leaders and village women, we will inspect the land parcel that we hope to purchase.  In addition, we will offer mobile health services during the four days that we are on the ground in Umuawuchi.

 

We have received some donations of basic medical supplies but funding is still needed for travel expenses and additional medical supplies and equipment.  Donations can be made through PayPal or by credit card on our website, seekersinternational.org.  Checks may be mailed to Seekers International Ministries, 3245 Beechwood Blvd. F3, Pittsburgh PA 15217.
