Second Chance Ranch Barn Fire

Donation protected

In the early morning of March, 21st the unthinkable occurred. Debbie Smith's and Amy Godesky's barn in Long Neck, Delaware burned with the loss of their 4 wonderful horses and also many rescued

cats they had put up to keep out of the night cold. At this point it is believed to have been started by a shorted out heat lamp used to keep baby chicks and ducks warm. Most of the horses Debbie had rescued, but one in particular Debbie had owned from the day he had been born. She had pulled him from his mothers womb. Debbie and Amy are besides themselves and are grief stricken.  These animals were their babys. We would like to ask you to help rebuild Second Chance Ranch. Everyone in the horse community knows how expensive rescuing horses are, and they will be starting from scratch as you can see in the picture, the barn was a total loss. Insurance is covering a portion but not nearly enough to get back to where they were.
Debbie is always the first to respond when I have a new horse arrive full of problems, or a medical emergencey with one of my own horses. She almost always beats the vet here.   I would love to see the community come together to help them in their greatest time of need. The faster we can get that burnt mess cleaned up and a new barn built, they can begin the healing process.. Debbie is the first person to respond to anyone in their time of need and now she needs our help. Those of you that know her, know that she would never ask for it.
