Second Chance Farm

Donation protected
Second Chance Farm is a safe haven for animals rescued from unfortunate situations. We strive to take in animals from rescue centres and give them a forever home where they can relax and enjoy the quiet peaceful life they deserve. By taking in animals from rescues all over Ireland, we free up spaces for the rescues to take in more animals who need their attention. Here at Second Chance Farm, all animals have their own shelter, either in the barn or in one of the 12 stables on site. Every animal is brought outside in the morning and allowed to interact with other animals for socialisation. In addition, all the animals are handled with care and enjoy the spacious grassland to relax. All the animals are brought in every night for safety, comfort and shelter. Every animal we take in are treated like royalty and so they should! We at Second Chance Farm intend to build more shelter, rent more land to take in more animals who need rescuing and to purchase a trailer for comfortable transport. In the future, our plan is to create a safe haven for children & adults with disabilities to allow them to visit the farm and interact with the animals. Being remote from the busy roads, children & adults can enjoy learning about the animals in a peaceful, relaxing environment. This type of animal therapy is great for those who need freedom from stress and forget about the busy world outside the farm! Please share & any donations would be greatly appreciated towards the build of the animal sanctuary! Meet Reginald, who has recently fathered our new piglets, Rosa & Esmarelda. Reginald is a sweetheart who enjoys rooting through the plants and burrowing holes around the land. Reginalds' favourite past time is sunbathing! Rosa likes to stay near to Reginald as she adores her new father and follows him everywhere! Meet Dora (mother) & Podge (son) who came from Burren Animal Rescue. These two pot bellied pigs enjoy each others company too much! They love to make noises and enjoy their sleep! Pot Bellied Pig Convention! Apparently there was a meeting held by Reginald and none of the other animals were invited! I wonder what they are snorting about! Meet Alfie (left) & Sampson (Right) rehomed from An Cat Dubh Sanctuary. These boys are cheeky and like to jump!   Sampson must have grown a few inches! Meet the gorgeous Muscovy Ducks from Limerick Animal Welfare! These elegant, docile animals are very friendly and enjoy roaming around the paddock. They sleep in their customised stable where they have their private pool and comfy bedding for a good night sleep, safe from any potential threat. Boots (left) & Seafur (right) are 2 out of 5 kittens rescued from someone's back garden. They were left outside -2 degrees at the age of 4 weeks. These two rascals enjoy their comforts indoors while the other 3 (Blacky, Cookie, & Spirit) prefer to roam the land and sleep in their stable where they can play with their toys and sleep under the heat lamp. Who could forget Sergeant Fly! Our precious 8 year old collie adores all the animals and loves to watch them for the entire day! Opal, our first mule, was rehomed from the donkey sanctuary in Cork. She is very quiet and nervous when she arrived but now has shown improvements and beginning to come out of her shell. Malone (right) is Opal's father who also came from the donkey sanctuary in Cork. Malone can be a bit vocal at times and enjoys his daily runs with Chester our Kerry Bog! Buddy (left) arrived with Dora and Podge the two pot bellied pigs from Burren Animal Rescue. He has not seen grass for a long time and is very much in heaven at the moment! He is settling in with his equine companions and has had no trouble so far! Buddy is enjoying the abundance of grass here at the farm!   Meet the three musketeers! Saffie on the left is a Shetland pony and beside her is her son, Darcy. On the right is Phoebe who was found on the road and rescued along with Saffie and Darcy. These three gorgeous ponies were sent to Second Chance Farm for a happy stress free life by Catriona Lowry who is a Equine feeder and rescuer from Co Clare.
