Seattle United Supports Abner

In November 2019, B06 Copa player Abner was admitted to Seattle Children's Hospital where he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. He began his courses of chemotherapy and responded well at first. By the end of the year, however, it was apparent that Abner was having serious adverse reactions to his chemo. Unable to breathe on his own and suffering from severe neurotoxicity, he was admitted to the ICU where he stayed for over 9 months . Even though he is debilitated and suffering from the physical effects of neurotoxicity, Abner continues to fight. Everyday he shows small signs of improvement but he has a very long way to go to gain the strength required to be eligible for a much needed bone marrow transplant. His loving mom has been at his bedside nearly every moment since November. She fearlessly speaks words of encouragement and eases his physical pain with her caring touch. It's easy to see where Abner gets his strength and determination. As time passes and bills amass, the financial burdens are overwhelming.
