Seamus' Mystery Diagnosis
Donation protected
Our 2 year old dog, Seamus, has been sick with a mystery illness since around April 30. He first went to our regular vet on May 4th. (You can see short GIFs of his condition that morning here: http://gph.is/2pkLSHl and here: http://gph.is/2pxlmWa). Due to the severity of his condition, he was referred down to the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital, so we went there and he stayed overnight for further tests and observation. So far, all tests for suspected causes have come back negative.
He's had tons of bloodwork, an ultrasound, x-rays, and pathology done on aspirations from his lymph nodes. He's not responding well to antibiotics, and his fever continues to be elevated with no known cause so far. Lymphoma was suspected initially, but they don't think it's that at this point. They also suspected the bacteria bartonella, but we are still waiting on those test results. Due to his lack of response to the antibiotics, they are suspecting that is also not the cause. We are at a loss and awaiting further consultation.
We are absolutely financially tapped out. We were fortunate enough to be approved for Care Credit, but we quickly maxed that out at the University, and are still looking at more visits, diagnostics, and expected treatment. We want to do everything possible for our little baby, but we are quickly running out of options. Anything helps. Even if you can't donate, please share.
Seamus came from the Tallahassee Animal Shelter, and if we happen to raise more money than the cost of his bills, we will be donating all remaining funds to the Shelter to go towards the care of other animals.
