Emergency Power

Hello ... 

My name is John.  I'm 70 years old and have multiple medical barriers; the worst being a relatively rare Autoimmune, Neurological disorder known as Myasthenia Gravis.  You can learn more about MG @ Myasthenia Gravis Society of Canada.

One of the effects of Myasthenia Gravis is that my left side has been affected; my lung has shrunk and my breathing capacity is diminished.  I am dependent on a BiPap Machine for my breathing at night; I also use it during the day to give my lung a rest as the machine does the breathing for me.

I live in an area on Vancouver Island that is hit by a number of wind storms each year; the latest one causing a power outage from early December 20th until late December 23rd.   It was extremely cold and I have no backup heat.  Most of the houses in our area have wood stoves, we are one of the few that does not have that.

During the summer of 2018 my back up battery (12 volt-deep cell) would no longer hold a charge.  I went to a local battery store and they sold me a battery that they said would work for what I needed it for.  Unfortunately, it did not do the job and I spent many hours awake as I had no power for my BiPap.

During the power outage I lost all the food in my freezers and have still not been able to replace it all.  I live on a limited seniors income and to make a long story short, I am trying to raise funds for 3 things. 

1) A Deep Cell, 12 volt battery .. Approx cost $400 - $500.  On a full charge it will supply my BiPap with approximately 5 nights of power.

2) A back up portable battery in the event that I have to leave home during an outage or other emergency situation.  Approx cost $450

3) A generator big enough to power a 21 ft., 5th wheel which will be my residence
