SCOTT PETRIE’S UNTIMELY DEATH

On Sunday, October 16, 2016 Scott Petrie tragically died in a motorcycle accident on a beautiful fall day while out for a pleasant ride on rural roads. The driver of an SUV unexplainably made a sudden turn directly into the path of his bike snuffing out his life. He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Janice Beveridge Petrie, two daughters Megan Petrie Ramirez and Kira Beth Petrie, a son, Brandon Petrie, son-in-law Manny Ramirez, and his beautiful year old grandson---the apple of his eye---Miles.

Scott was a hard worker, running a small construction business and recently, working for the Solebury/New Hope (PA) School System. His life was never about making money. He was always more interested in helping people. If he had to work a little bit longer and a little harder and absorb some of the expense himself, Scott was about helping others. He graduated for Gordon College in Massachusetts where he and Jan fell in love. He briefly pursued medical studies, then medical sales, but had a dream to work with his hands and construction gave him both the artistic and mechanical venue that would satisfy that desire. He loved to make artful projects for family and friends and carried a little picture portfolio of his latest creations with him at all times to show them off. He was clever and good at what he did. Scott would always be the one to stay the longest and work the hardest, doing anything he could do to help out. He would work quietly, never drawing attention to himself. He loved to help people---to make others happy---his kids, his extended family, his friends and virtually anyone with whom he came in contact.

Scott's lack of concern for accumulating wealth and his care for others meant that financial resources were often in short supply, despite Jan's strong gifts in educational administration and her employment throughout their marriage. In the face of his tragic death, funeral costs and the loss of his income have produced a serious need in the short-term. As Scott helped others, perhaps we can rally behind his family and help them get through their time of grief and financial need.

Tomorrow morning their daughter Kira will arrive home from China where she has been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). A call to China last night broke her heart with the news of her dad's untimely death. Last night Scott’s son Brandon had to inform his grandma Petrie that Scott had died (she just lost her husband, Scotts father, in May). Scott was their major support giver throughout the time of his dad's failing health and the continuing for his mother daily right up until Sunday's tragic moment.

Let's do all we can to help alleviate one major area of concern in the midst of this tragedy. Our goal is raise $10,000 to help with funeral costs and short-term expenses they will have until they can get their lives going again. Any amount will help. Give what you can, and maybe give what you can't to help this family in this crisis.

Thank you,
The Petrie & Beveridge Family

PS. To make sure people don't question who I am because I don't share a name with the Petries or Beveridges. I am the wife of Scott's and Janice's nephew, Aaron Beveridge. This is the little part I can do to help my husband's family. Thank you!
