Scoil Chríost Rí, Supporting Children with an ASD

Donation protected

Scoil Chríost Rí is an all Boys’ National School based in the heart of Caherdavin, Limerick with an enrollment of 310 pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.

We have recently opened a new, purpose built facility for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  This facility comprises of two classrooms, a multi sensory room, multi purpose room, office space and kitchen. There is also a large atrium to bring the space together. Outside is a beautiful garden area with benches for children.

We value children’s education and appreciate the importance of inclusivity and providing children with the opportunity to attend their local school.

We have many plans for this exciting new chapter and hope to raise some much needed funds to furnish our new space and provide our pupils with the most effective, enjoyable and productive school days.  The first item on our wish list is an outdoor activity space.  12 boys will be enrolled in to two classes of the new extension called , ‘ Bláth na nÓg’ . We hope to purchase a bespoke unit to help develop children’s balance, coordination and gross motor skills. The piece we are looking at includes a swing, climbing activity and tunnel and slide. This will need to be fitted professionally and be surrounded by a soft surface for safety.

Members of our school community are partaking in The Great Limerick Run on Sunday May 5th to raise money and all donations are greatly appreciated !*
