School lunches are sometimes the must nutritious meal of their day. It's hard to concentrate on your school work if you are hungry or hung up on being embarrassed for not being able to afford lunch.
More than 15k kids owe lunch money in MANATEE COUNTY alone. Debts in Palm Beach County run about $130,000.00 a year, imagine our county?
Other states have started gofundme pages and are raising over $100k! Big thank you to Ashley C. Ford who started all this with a tweet "A cool thing you can do today is try to find out which of your local schools have kids with overdue lunch accounts and pay them off,"
Please join me in helping to ease the burden of these families and ensuring these kids get a full hot meal each day. It is a small, but meaningful gift we can offer to our community and local public schools. It'll also help ease the burden on our school district and food service staff who do not like turning children away.
