Did you know that Honduras has one of the worst gang epidemics and highest crime rates in the world? Each year, targeted violence leads to the rise of youth migration, where thousands of children join gangs like MS-13 and Mara 18.
Did you know that Honduras is also the 2nd poorest nation in the western hemisphere? Approximately 1 out of 5 Hondurans (66%) live in extreme poverty, or on less than US$1.90 per day.
With access to a quality education and jobs the Honduran people can fight back!
The Mission of SHH is to alleviate extreme poverty and violence in Honduras through education and youth empowerment.

About Students Helping Honduras:
Students Helping Honduras was founded in 2004 when a small group of college students traveled to San Pedro Sula, Honduras to work in an orphanage for displaced and abandoned girls. One of those students was Shin Fujiyama, a sophomore at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. That year he founded Students Helping Honduras, a non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating extreme poverty in Honduras.
Over the past 13 years SHH has built a small village for displaced families called Villa Soleada, founded a bilingual school for disadvantaged children, established a children’s home for abandoned and abused street children, and is in the process of building schools in poor villages throughout Honduras. SHH has over 100 chapters in colleges and universities throughout the United States that raise money and travel to Honduras to support the work of SHH. Since 2007, thousands of volunteers have traveled to Honduras to help develop education and community.
100% of donations go directly toward projects that put kids in school.

*Students Helping Honduras (SHH) is an international NGO operating in both the United States and Honduras. While the majority of its projects are centered on the peripheries of El Progreso, the organization engages in projects throughout all of Honduras.
About Edrington:
Edrington’s ownership model is unique in it’s industry. The company’s principal shareholder is The Robertson Trust, which was established in 1961 by the Robertson sisters who donated their shares in the businesses founded by their grandfather.
