On Friday, January 4th, Noah Anderson (8 years old) experienced cardiac arrest while on a cruise ship with his parents, siblings, and maternal grandparents.  He was revived, intubated, and sedated.  The ship returned to the Bahamas and an ambulance took Noah to a hospital in Nassau where he received care while waiting for an air ambulance to arrive.  The ship then proceeded to Miami, FL.  Noah is currently en route to Miami Children's Hospital, where he has already been admitted.

Grant Anderson is the principal at Whitaker Elementary (Noah's school) within Finneytown Local School District and Sarah Anderson is the Children's Ministry Pastor at VCNW, in Colerain Township, OH.  Their service and love for their community reaches far and wide.  They are loved in return and MANY people have reached out to their friends here in Cincinnati, asking how they can help.  The financial impact of an emergency like this would leave many of us devastated.  If you feel inclined to give, please do!  The Anderson family will encounter expenses that we can't even begin to think of yet, while they find their way through the next few hours and days.  Above anything else, I know they would covet your prayers.  Please pray for uneventful travel for the air ambulance, for peace and wisdom for Grant and Sarah, and for absolute peace and rest for their other two boys, Alex and Ryan.

Monday update from Sarah's FB page...

Noah has had a great day today! He had a cardiac MRI early this morning. He was a champ, and earned a LEGO set for doing a great job. Later on, he had an EEG. He doesn’t have any neurological damage, thanks to Grant Anderson and Jeff Steel and the crew of the Norwegian for reviving him so quickly.

Word of Noah’s story has spread quickly....from the Cincinnati Enquirer, to USA Today, to an Australian news article. We did a couple FaceTime interviews this afternoon with two local Cincinnati news stations. Watch channel 5 and 12 at 6pm, and channel 9 at 11 if you are local.

We have LOVED hearing from each and every one of you. We have read every comment and looked at every donation on the Go Fund Me.

Alex, Ryan, Ma and Pa just landed at home in Cincinnati. We are thankful the boys will get to return to a bit of normalcy.

Noah will have surgery at 1pm tomorrow. His ICD will be implanted under the muscle by his left collarbone. We have complete confidence in his team of doctors and the plan that they have for him.

Pray for stamina for the family as we continue down this path, for continued bravery and peace for Noah, and for the praise of God to be the highlight of every time Noah’s story is told.

Gratitude continues to permeate every moment. We are so thankful that our hilarious, smart, snuggly, brave, extroverted guy is still here with us.

One part of the story that we haven’t shared yet, is that prayer was a big part of Noah’s survival. I laid hands on him and prayed immediately, and returned several times to do so as he was resuscitated. My dad, when the crew arrived and took over the efforts, placed his hand on Noah and prayed and that is the moment when his heart rhythm returned. We serve and love a big, glorious, loving, faithful God who hears our prayers. All praise goes to him.

Updates 2-4, taken from Sarah's FB page...

Update 2: (Saturday, late afternoon.) Awake and removing the ventilator.

Update 3. (Saturday evening.) Off the ventilator, back to sleep (naturally, not sedation). He is swollen, not super happy, but he spoke “it’s itchy!” being his first words. Tears of gratitude for my No-No. So incredibly grateful he is still himself.

Update 4 (10:44pm): Please pray for comfort and easy rest for Noah. He has been vomiting, they think from the trauma of being intubated and his body has been through quite an ordeal. Brothers went off to the hotel with family a few hours ago, and Uncle Dave and Aunt Amy Anderson stayed with Noah while Grant and I got a couple hours rest. Uncle Adam Steel is here from New Hampshire, Sarah Wilson Smoker from Colorado, and Dave and Amy are from Michigan. I have been blown away by the love and support you all have shown. You have encouraged me minute by minute. Our God is a God of the details, and He is seeing to each one of our physical, mental and emotional needs. Please continue to pray for all of us for strength, stamina, and clearheadedness as we make decisions in the morning with the care team. Pray for the family to strengthen through this crisis and for the name of Jesus to be glorified. His name has carried me through this. He truly is our refuge in times of trouble. Noah is alive. Praise be to God.

Update from Sarah's FB page...

Reunited at the hospital. They are running tests while he is sedated. Hope to start to wake him up and extubate him soon. Pray for peace for his body, and his mind as he wakes and has to come to terms with what has happened. That peace, truth and love will reign in his heart and mind. He is a fighter. And such a little extrovert. Keeps trying to open his eyes when he hears our voices. ❤️❤️❤️
