Saving Glory ❤️

$3,010 of $10,000 goal

I rescued Glory an 8 week old DSH kitten, from an animal shelter in Connecticut.  Glory was scheduled to be euthanized due to her severe Cerebellar Hypoplasia & her inability to walk. Glory was born with some birth defects & over time they seemed to have caused her to be immobile. Glory's back leg joints are fused together, so her legs do not bend at all & she has no use of them. She can feel her legs and does respond when you pinch her toes but she is unable to use them to walk. Her front legs use to be normal for from what I was told but over time she was unable to put weight on them because her paws bend inward when she puts her body weight on them to hold herself up. Glory is an other wise very happy playful kitten & loves her brother Astro very much. I think that if we can somehow find a way to get Glory's front legs working then she will at least be able to drag herself around and be somewhat mobile. I have scheduled an appointment for her to get x-rays of all her limbs & then to be seen by an Orthopedic surgeon at Tufts University in Grafton MA. These things are going to be quite costly & I really want to be able to give Glory every chance she can possibly get to get around & live a normal life & eventually be adopted and go to her forever home with her brother.  Any donations you all make will help immensely & I cant even begin to express how much I appreciate it. Glory & I are in the battle together & I won't let her down. Please help me save this sweet girl.  SHE DESERVES IT!

Glory had his appointment with the orthopedic surgeon at Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Tufts University! I will give you all a synopsis of the appointment in the doctors words & mine!
In the doctors words ...
Glory’s skeletal structures are essentially normal, however due to the inability to ambulate, contracture & deformity has developed! The deformities in Glory’s front & hind limbs are due to a failure of the nervous system to act upon the muscles of his limbs to allow normal skeletal movement & weight bearing! As a result contraction & deformity have developed. Surgery is not indicated at this time, as there Is no orthopedic procedure that can resolve Glory’s neurological abnormality (CH). A cart that fully supports Glory’s front & hind limbs may allow some degree of mobility. If Glory is mobile within the cart, and limb angulation limits his mobility, corrective surgery after skeletal maturity may be indicated! .
So I my words...basically Glory’s muscles are not growing! His bones are growing but his muscles are not, due to him being immobile! So if we get him a cart and he is able to use his legs to move himself around..that means his brain is communicating and his muscles will start to develop the more he uses them & potentially straighten out with time & maybe not need the cart as much! If later he is able to get around in the cart and his front limbs don’t straighten over time but he is able to get around..the doctor said he can do surgery to straighten them if needed! So long story short the cart is the only option at this point to give him the best possible chance at mobility! I also am going to take him to see a physical therapist to see what I need to be doing to help him gain strength in any way I can! I am even going to try water therapy in my bathtub with him and see if he tries the swimming motions! Anything may help I am willing to try it all! Glory had another appointment at @eddieswheels to get fitted for his very own wheels & they should be done by February 2nd ish! I also made an appointment for him to see a neurologist & physical therapist! The physical therapist wants to work with the neurologist to try and make the best possible plan for Glory’s potential recovery in his front limbs! I made this gofundme In the beginning before I knew what Glory was going to need long term!! The funds we have already have Ben going to great use we paid for his consultation at the orthopedic surgeon, we bought his new custom made wheel chair! We have the appt for physical therapy & with the neurologist! I also bought Glory diapers and supplies for when he is in the chair!! We will need help potentially long term depending on how his physical therapy goes and if he will to continue to go long term to develop his strength!! I also thought about doing acupuncture as well!! Due to this I am going to up the goal to help continue to support Glory’s long road about! All of your support has been amazing and so beyond helpful!! We couldn’t do any of this without you all!!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Glory sends purrs & head bonks ❤️
