Saving Bailey's foot

Thank you for taking the time to read this cats story.

Bailey is 15 years old, his birthday is 14th February 2003 and he is the most content and comfiest cat I have ever met. He is a cat that came into our life about April 2017, we live in a little are of small flats and every so often we'd come outside and there he was strolling around. We'd sometimes see him all day or never at all, as summer approached we'd see him more and more and with our door being open, his little nose would start to peak through. Some days he'd stroll around and lay in the sun or we'd find him making himself very comfortable in the middle of our bed.
It was when he didn't leave for a few days that we had to figure out where he comes from, we watched him closely as he would go home for dinner/breakfast and then come back out and instantly into our home. We talked to his owner, Maggie our next door neighbor, about what do with this entitled fat cat and we came to the conclusion that he can/will do what ever he wants as we all love him very much and want him to be happy. The ginger prince, as Maggie likes to call him, has now been 'living' with us since September last year and we couldn't be happier and nor can he. He was originally a cat that was quite reserved and private, he has since turned into a loving cat, who wants nothing more than tickles and will always find a space near us to curl up and have a nap.
I have started this go fund me page as we have reached our wits end with his poor toe, he originally got it caught, bitten off or stressed out enough that while my husband and I went off to visit family in Germany in May 2018, he lost he nail and part of his pad. At the time it wasn't too bad and he was given antibiotics and painkillers, which improved his mood and toe for a week or so but he just couldn't leave it alone. He has refused to stop 'cleaning' the wound which has lead to its increased sized and he has to re-position how he sits, walks and lays down.
He is in pain, you can tell but he deals with it well enough, but we can no longer afford to take him to the vets once a month, we were originally saving up but other human bills appeared and we got set back to zero. This can be done and dealt with through the vet but we can not afford the x-ray, blood tests and sedation needed to truly know the extent of the damage. They are also not sure if he may have some kidney problems or a worse infection then what can be seen on the toe.

I have given a timeline of his toe in the pictures uploaded over the last 5 months, it really shows how badly he's been fiddling with it. I have also included the bill we last received and the itemized bill we were given if we were to go ahead with what the vet advised. We have put a total of £600 even though the bill is £397.17 because of any aftercare and medications needed afterwards.
