ABANDONED MELLO IS SAVED!!!
i work at a steel fabrication shop, in an industrial area of Davie, FL. A few days ago, as i was leaving the shop, to go home, i heard some howling coming from a scrapyard, next door. It took me a few mins of searching but i found a dog. Lying on rocks and concrete, among all kinds of tires, scrap metals, junk cars and machines, this pitiful looking, tan colored dog. i called out to him but he wouldn't get up, just looked at me with a miserable expression. i went home and wondered about him all night.
i brought food and water for him the next day. He stood up to greet me but he walks kinda funny. i got a much closer look at him. Something is causing him pain, he kinda hunches when walks, or rather, limps around. His eyes are crusty, his paws are swollen and cracked, he some open sores on his skin, he's got lot's of brown gunk in his poor ears and his wee-wee is red and very swollen. He's sick and miserable and sad and he hurts , but he limps over to me and still manages little tail wags. He's a sweetie. i'm calling him Caramello (Mello for short)
A scrapyard guy told me his owners dumped him here, a week ago. They moved away and didn't want him anymore. They must have been neglecting him for a long time. it takes way more than a week for a dog to reach this condition. i've been visiting him everyday. i bring food and water, and sit with him for an hour or so before i go home every day....but he's sick...he needs a vet and he needs a home.
i can't take him home. i have my own dog and am also currently fostering another rescued dog who is aggressive towards male dogs. i want to take Mello to a vet but i know i won't be able to afford the vet bills. i'm reaching out to anybody and everybody. Please help! if we can just raise some money to get this sweetheart dog some medicine and food, i can take him to the vet and we still need to find someone to foster / adopt him. If we don't step in to save him, he'll just stay and get more sick and probably die.
Help save Mello from the scrapyard! Anything helps.
