Saving Tiny Quinn's Leg
Tax deductible
Quinn was found on the morning of August 9th in the middle of the sidewalk on the 400 Block of North "G" Street in Lompoc, CA. The mother cat was hovering over him. A good Samaritan scooped him up and rushed him to VIVA (Volunteers For Inter Valley Animals). He was covered in stickers and thorns. His right back paw was four times the size of a normal paw. His temperature was raging. He was rushed to the vet and even while in such pain, he wouldn't stop purring. Quinn is just 5 weeks old.
Our fear was that the leg was already dead. The vet said, " he does have some feeling in the toes - so lets try to save his leg." There is HOPE. After his temperature was down, the pus and infection was flushed out of the wound. If Sepsis sets in, we will have to amputate the leg.
Quinn has trauma to the right back paw caused from a bite. The paw is warm showing that there is blood flow. He has feeling in the paw, but is not using it. We may not be able to save the leg unless we see more positive results of decreased swelling and the infection subsiding. Amputation may be imminent.
To date, Quinn has been to the Veterinarian twice and will need several more visits in the future. It is our hope to save his leg. However, if sepsis enters the bloodstream, it is life threatening. In order to avoid that, the leg would need to be removed. Quinn can lead a healthy normal life with three legs.
Please help us to save this sweet kitten's life.
