Saving Rosey and Posey

Can you spare five dollars to change a life?

Meet Rosey and Posey, named by some of our Rescue family, and brought in Saturday on an owner surrender. It's a fact their hoof and dental neglect is not at all dissimilar to cases we have seen criminal convictions in. The delightful people that owned them their whole lives found very little reason to actually care for the horses, but certainly had deadlines and convenience requirements when they decided they had neglected them long enough. We spent $200 Saturday alone, accommodating that. Our hauler/foster/volunteer, arrived to find the horses standing in tiny, manure filled pens, on ridiculous feet, at a property resembling a garbage dump. The girls, despite a lifetime of neglect and depravity, horrid feet and NO REASON to trust, loaded, and arrived safely even though they never should have been sent to be hauled on those feet. We have started trims, and it's getting better. I'll share some photos. We need an easy $500 bucks to start training/trimming. The added challenge, their trust is so broken, they bite, kick and blow up under the most patient and gentle of handling. They are dangerously untrained and especially untrusting. It's not just about trimming their feet. It's about teaching them it's safe to let us, and having to share the burden with some professionals because even I cannot fully remediate their issues alone, and run this campus and build our Therapeutic exposure program. Caitlin and David will have to help me, and so far, I'm the only crazy person that works for free. Two of us have already been injured by these horses, and injuries are rare here. Everyone is fine, but still nursing bruises. I estimate six months of training, hoof care, and behavioral rehabilitation will cost $1200 for monthly trims and hoof recovery supplies and suppliments, $500 in training since Caitlin and I can cover most of that and about $850 in veterinary care. They have never had dentals, Posey has some skin thingies to treat, as all white horses at that age tend to, with rare exception, and I might need to x-ray a foot. Please help us care for these two girls. At 22 and 16 they have a lot left to offer, even though nothing was ever offered to them besides the wrong feed, neglect and filth.
