Saving Nellie
I met Nellie on the first day of my trip to Bali in September 2019.
She was so gentle, sweet and smart that I instantly fell in love with her.
I felt like we’d met before.
Her home is on the street, under a parked car where she retreats to keep cool, sheltered and safe... I observed other dogs in her neighbourhood bullying her and trying to steal the food I had given her even though they had proper homes and were well fed.
The locals told me that a black female dog like Nellie is deemed "undesirable" and it broke my heart to know that this beautiful girl was looked upon that way. I lost my last dog just over a year ago …a black female dog called Charlie who I loved immensely.
Nellie was left to fend for herself by a family who chose to take in her two siblings but to abandon her. Still, she remains loving and forgiving to all humans who cross her path.
I spent quality time with her and became witness to her sweet nature, her kindness toward all humans and her excitement for life regardless of her situation.
Nellie was always scratching and biting herself so my friend Kelly and I took her to be bathed with a flea, tick and worming treatment...
She came back happy, fluffy, relieved and SO appreciative!
As my time with her grew shorter and with no luck in finding her a home, I decided to look into taking her with me to Melbourne, Australia and was shocked to find out the monetary cost and quarantine time.
Facebook friends suggested I start a GoFundMe campaign to bring her to Melbourne. It's a big ask... but here I am!
Luckily I have friends in Bali staying very close to Nellie for a couple of weeks. They are keeping an eye on her and giving her some food and water but I fear what may happen when she's on her own again...
So I need to get things moving if I’m going to do this for her.
Below is a detailed outline of exactly what the funds will be used for.
I’ve found a very respected person in the field of relocating dogs like Nellie - Christe Pet Mover.
He will look after her every step and keep me up to date with her journey to Australia.
The initial costs are : $10,945 AUD

Full vaccines to Nellie, implant the microchip, transporting from Bali to Jakarta, all export papers from Indonesia, a quarantine exam, dog crate, freight cost from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur, all import papers in Malaysia, quarantine in Malaysia, staying in boarding in Malaysia, export papers from Malaysia, Import permit in Australia, freight cost from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne papers from Malaysia, Import permit in Australia, freight cost from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne
The final cost of $2500 AUD is forAustralian quarantine
I’d be eternally grateful of any help to drastically change this special little girl’s life and what an adventure it would be!
