Save the Kid's Gym Bloomington, IL.

I want to start off by giving my heartfelt thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this. My name is Andrew, and I have been frequenting We Rock the Spectrum (WRTS / Kid's Gym) since they opened in December of 2017. My 2-year-old son is Autistic, and he hates going places most of the time. When we first heard about WRTS I immediately wanted my son to go there and check it out. His first time was a tremendous success. He loved it the moment we walked in the door, and he still loves going there. There are hundreds of families in and around the Normal, IL area who have similar experiences at WRTS. This gym is a necessity for our community.

Who Will Benefit from the Funds Raised?

This fundraiser is for all the kids who want to come and play, learn and make friends. Anyone who knows anything about little ones with disabilities or disorders knows that every single toy, every activity, and every word spoken to them is carefully thought out, and this gym provides all that. Kids with sensory issues have special toys, activities, and events that they can attend so that they can feel comfortable enough to learn and grow. Therapy specialists love to work with their kids at the gym because they provide everything a therapist needs during their time with the kids. Kids with social issues always have a nice, quiet place to play while their siblings take to the swings and the zip line without disturbance. Kids of all ages, from any background, neo-typical or not, will benefit greatly from this gym staying open.

Safety

It is important to note that the WRTS Kid's Gym in Bloomington, IL is the safest place to take your kids to play. Every activity is specially designed to be safe for any kid. Plus, the gym has expertly trained staff to help monitor the kids to ensure safety at every moment. A parent with a special needs child just couldn't ask for a better place to take their kids.

What are the Funds Used for?

Opening the gym has been difficult from the beginning. Any business in their first year is going to go through rough patches, and this situation is no different. Tricia and Eric have been vigilant in getting the word out to the community, networking with so many different programs and nonprofits, but the funds brought in from people who support WRTS have just been a bit shy. The funds will be used to pay some unexpected expenses, rent, and utilities, and to hire back one or two more specialized employees to help with the continued safety and keeping the gym clean.

Every single penny will be put into the gym.

A Bit About the Owners, Tricia, and Eric and Their Family

The owners have been creating phenomenal programs for all kinds of kids and parents alike, and the turnout for these events and programs has been great. Their passion for helping these kids runs deep. For Tricia and Eric, this is their life, and they work day and night to be leaders in our community for special needs children. Tricia and Eric have adopted kids with special needs. This is who they are, and our community needs them and their passion because there just isn't another place like it for parents like me who use the gym frequently. Tricia and Eric have worked 30+ years at normal jobs, and when they retired, they put every single penny of their life savings into the WRTS Kid's Gym because they knew the community needed it. And we do. Normal, Bloomington, Peoria, and all the surrounding cities, towns, and counties rely on this gym for support.

WRTS Kid's Gym Bloomington, IL Needs Funds Now

I wish I could say that there is time for the wonderful owners, but unfortunately, there just isn't. The point of no return is coming, and every kid in the community will no longer have the place where you never have to say I am sorry for what they do or who they are.

There will be no more safe haven for parents and children alike who aren't welcome in other, "normal" gyms because they are autistic and can't follow the rules like the other kids, or others who can't handle sensory input like other kids can. This gym is more than just a place for a kid to go and get some energy out.

For these kids, it is a place where they can be themselves. It is a place where they can feel comfortable. It is a place where kids who don't have autism or other disorders can become desensitized to kids who do, and they can learn that they aren't very different from one another. It is a place where kids can have as much fun as they can and parents can be assured that they will be safe at every moment. It is a place where kids come and learn from other people in the community through special events hosted at the gym by organizations in the community to help kids learn new skills, help with literacy, and other goals set by each activity and event.

Personally, as a user of the WRTS Kid's Gym in Bloomington, IL, I will be devastated if they were to close, because my son would no longer have a safe place to go and play and learn with other kids. Our community will lose more than a gym, it will lose the one place where ANY child can go and not feel different or unwelcome.

Please Donate or Share this Fundraiser

If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser on your social media, because that is just as good as giving some of your hard-earned money. As the campaign organizer and manager, I want to thank each and every one of you who took the time to read about these wonderful WRTS owners and their situation. I truly hope that you'll consider donating to help our community keep this necessary place open for any kid to go to and enjoy while learning. Every single dollar helps.

Personally...

I genuinely believe in supporting them, because they have given everything they have to support the special needs community here in Bloomington-Normal, IL.

Tricia and Eric are more than deserving of a little support. I also want to surprise them with this campaign. When they reached out to me, they were devastated and heartbroken. They asked me for any help I could give.

I promised them that I would do everything I possibly can to help them because I'm not the only one who will suffer if they close. Thousands of kids will no longer have this wonderful place either.

I refuse to let that happen. This is just one of many ways I am helping the Kid's Gym. Please, help me in my efforts, if you can, by donating and/or sharing this fundraiser on your social media and telling your family and friends.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
