Save The Club Fitness!
The members of The Club Fitness in Lowell have joined together to raise money to save our gym, or as some members say, “save our home”!
Last week we found out that our beloved gym will be closing at the end of May because of a heartbreaking and unfortunate situation Karen (the owner of the Club) has been facing for many years. Her business and life partner became abusive and has turned his attention to destroying her business.
The members want nothing more than to find a way to save the place that has been so much more than a gym to them and has been the life work of Karen, Serina, and Anna. It’s a diverse, inclusive and loving community that not only supports its members on their fitness journey but also through life events like marriages, births, deaths, divorces, and unemployment. It’s a place where members can find fun, motivating fitness instructors, and caring people of the community - many of whom have become lifelong friends.
It’s our turn to give back to Karen, who has been a huge advocate for the Lowell community for decades. As a strong business owner she looked to invest in a neighborhood where few people saw potential. She started The Club and made it her life’s work to shape this community. She has also started the Jackson Appleton Middlesex Business Association and has been involved with Elder Services, the Chamber of Commerce, and the March of Dimes for many years.
This gym has been in the Lowell community since 1992 and we’re not going to let it go without a fight. As members, we're joining together to support Karen, who has spent her life supporting us.
We only have a few weeks to raise the money we need (the end of May is right around the corner), so please donate to help save the community that Karen worked so hard to build!
Whether we are at our current location or we have to start at a fresh new place, these funds will go towards keeping the Club family together and the gym open! We will also use some of it to help Karen recoup a fraction of the cost she spent to fight to keep her business and club family from being destroyed.
