The purpose of this campaign is to raise money for the medical treatment of 120 Kurdish fighters, known as j, critically injured fighting ISIS terrorists.
The Kurdish fighters have played a key role putting an end to the so-called Islamic State militants in Iraq. Over this three-year battle, the costly war has resulted in at least 1,777 Peshmerga deaths. More than 10,000 are wounded, many requiring urgent treatment abroad.
The 120 Peshmerga have received preliminary prognosis - in country and abroad, and many were treated in Turkey and in Europe and require follow up treatments, including reconstructive treatments. Some have simple injuries requiring removal of shrapnel, whilst others require significant surgery, including bone grafts, pelvis replacements and more.
These men and women fought a common enemy - ISIS, that threatens our way of life, democracy and world peace. An enemy that caused a mass exodus of tens of thousands of Christians from the Ninewa Plains and Yazidis from Sinjar into the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The militants also enslaved thousands of Yazidi women and children.
The government's resources in the Kurdistan Region are limited. Though thousands have been treated, the 120 Peshmerga in particular remain in urgent need of treatment unavailable in the Kurdistan Region. Despite promises by members of the anti-ISIL coalition, some have been waiting for over five months for treatment that is yet to materialize.
Your contributions symbolize the world's appreciation for their sacrifices. It allows them to afford treatment and return to a normal, decent life. Money raised beyond our goal will go towards treatment for other Peshmerga.
Your contributions will directly go to the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) in the United States. BCF will coordinate with the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs' Directorate General of Medical Affairs to finance treatment for those in need of immediate treatment. BCF has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars treating Peshmerga in Jordan and in Europe.
The Barzani Charity Foundation is a renowned international NGOs, helping deliver aid to families fleeing Mosul and internally displaced families from Iraq and Syria. It also provides a monthly stipend to more than 11,000 orphans across the region. BCF will provide updates on each Peshmerga following their treatment.
